Story Day!!

Yes. This is another post later at night. This time I have a plausible excuse, though: we had company all day and so I didn’t get around to doing really anything productive other than building relationships and reading an awesome book. XD

However! I had a burst of inspiration earlier, so you get a poem today. There was no prompt, other than a question that popped into my head about heavenly treasures. So enjoy!

The Poem

What use is gold and silver,

when all you have will be lost?

Why hoard all of this treasure,

when all it takes is one shot?

Why fear the judgement of man,

when their scorn fades so soon?

Why work so hard for a sham,

when all you gain is doom?

Why worry about tomorrow,

when it will worry for itself?

Why fear the toils or sorrow,

when you’re close to God himself?

For in the end, all things fade.

They pale when compared with

the things of a future age.

The love of the world is a myth.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV)

Wrap Up

*wipes forehead* Yeesh, I forgot how hard poetry is sometimes (even with a burst of inspiration)! What did you think? Was my rhyme and rhythm terrible? (On second thought, don’t answer that. XD) Do you value eternal treasures?

As always, take courage, pursue God, and smile while you still have teeth! 😀
